JEFFREY BIGGS
PARTNER
Jeff was admitted to practice as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1982. He holds a Bachelor of Economics, a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland.
Following his admission, Jeff commenced his legal career practising predominantly in commercial litigation at the CBD firm Smith & Fitzgerald, where he became a partner in 1983. At that time Jeff took over the management of the firm’s Aspley practice.
Following the dissolution of the Smith & Fitzgerald partnership, Jeff set up practice in partnership at Aspley with John Fitzgerald, as Biggs & Fitzgerald.
Over the course of his long career Jeff has gained unparalleled experience in a broad range of areas of the Law but his primary focus is on Family Law in which he is an Accredited Specialist, having gained his accreditation in 1999.
Jeff also practises extensively in Estate Litigation, Commercial and Property Disputes and Criminal Law.
Jeff’s well-deserved reputation as a resolute advocate for his client’s interests garners him respect amongst his peers in the legal fraternity and sees him receive referrals from past clients and legal practitioners alike who are confident to place the needs of their family and friends in the hands of such a dedicated and skilled professional.
Jeff has strong ties to the north side of Brisbane, having been a long term member of the Albany Creek Rotary Club and having acted in the capacity of Official Solicitor for a number of local community and sporting clubs (including the Aspley Leagues Club and Brisbane German Club).
Jeff has also been the co-author for many years of the state’s leading secondary school legal studies text book “Legal Studies for Queensland”.

STEVEN PIKE
PARTNER
Steven was admitted to practice as a Solicitor in the Queensland Supreme Court in 1998 and in the High Court of Australia in 1999.
After a 20 year career as a chef Steven return to tertiary study gaining a Bachelor of Laws from Queensland University of Technology in 1997 and a Bachelor of Arts from Griffith University in 1998.
After working for a number of prominent litigation firms (in both a Plaintiff and Defendant capacity), Steven joined Biggs Fitzgerald Pike as a partner in 2001.
Steven’s main area of practice is in personal injury and compensation law. Steven also practises in criminal law as well as general and estate litigation. He has appeared in criminal and civil appeals in all superior Courts in Queensland. In 2015, Steven instructed Counsel in a successful special leave application in High Court of Australia and subsequent appeal before the Full Court.
A keen cyclist, Steven has a particular interest in providing legal assistance to cyclists who have been injured and/or suffered property damage in traffic accidents.
Steven’s accessibility, responsiveness and values-led approach make him a trusted ally when confronting the challenges faced by his clients. His unique ability in being able to communicate with clients from all backgrounds with deep empathy and respect has been a key contributor to the development of Steven’s predominantly referrals-based practice.
His professionalism and exemplary skills as a purposeful litigator garner Steven respect amongst the wider legal profession.

NATALIA NABOKOVA
SOLICITOR
Natalia joined the firm in 2007 as a trainee solicitor, following her completion of a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (Asian and International Studies) from Griffith University in the same year. Natalia was admitted to practice as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2009.
Natalia has been a vital member of the firm for over 17 years, where she has been entirely dedicated to practising in the area of wills and estate matters. With extensive knowledge in these areas Natalia’s particular focus is on estate planning and estate administration. During the course of her practice Natalia also acts on behalf of her clients in family provision applications, solemn form probate and will rectification applications in the District and Supreme Courts.
Natalia’s clients benefit from her kindness, patience and unique ability to break down the complexities of the law. Her tenacity in obtaining the best for her clients is highly regarded. It is this professional investment, hand-in-hand with Natalia’s judicious attention to detail, that make her a formidable, popular and well-rounded legal practitioner.
Natalia is also fluent in both the Russian and Japanese languages.

HELEN RUFFLES
SOLICITOR
With over 26 years’ experience Helen is a highly respected family law practitioner with a reputation for excellence amongst her clients but also the wider legal profession.
Helen was admitted to practice as a Solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1998 after completing a Bachelor of Arts/Law (Hons) at University of Queensland.
Helen joined the firm in 1996 when it was known as Biggs & Fitzgerald as an Articled Clerk and has practised her entire career in the Family Law jurisdiction with our firm. During that time she and Jeff Biggs have developed a reputation as a formidable team who have successfully helped hundreds of clients during their almost 30 year working relationship.
Helen is a trusted and empathetic advisor who regularly receives referrals from past and current clients. She has broad experience across all areas of Family Law but particularly likes the challenge of complex property matters, using the analytical skills she has gained over the course of her career.
For most people the family law process can be daunting, even overwhelming. Helen uses her strong skills as a patient communicator to educate her clients about what to expect at every stage, in order to support and guide them towards a resolution of their matter.

Jessica joined the firm in 2012 and holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry) and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Griffith University.
Jessica was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia in 2006 and has previously worked in the public sector, including the Director of Public Prosecutions office and the Commonwealth Ombudsman’s office.
Jessica currently practises predominantly in the areas of wills and estate law as well as criminal law.
Jessica’s warm and friendly disposition coupled with her pragmatism and skills as an effective communicator make her a popular and well-respected member of our firm.
Jessica’s loyal client base is generated mainly through “word of mouth” referrals.
